A Scroll Compressor is a type of positive displacement compressor used widely in air conditioning, refrigeration, and heat pump systems. It is known for its high efficiency, quiet operation, and reliability.
Working Principle
A scroll compressor consists of two interleaved spiral scrolls:
-
One fixed scroll (stationary)
-
One orbiting scroll (moves in small circular motion without rotating)
As the orbiting scroll moves, it traps refrigerant gas in pockets between the scrolls and gradually pushes it toward the center, compressing the gas in the process.
Key Features
-
Smooth, quiet operation (fewer moving parts)
-
High energy efficiency (especially in part-load conditions)
-
Compact design
-
Low vibration
-
Better reliability and longer lifespan
